In his address to the nation last night, President Cyril Ramaphosa moved South Africa to alert level 4 lockdown from 28 June to 11 July 2021. President Ramaphosa warned citizens about the Delta variant and implemented restrictions to curb the spread of the virus. Under level 4, the sale of alcohol and gatherings are banned, schools must close this week and no sit-in dining at restaurants is allowed.
Celebrating the “Year of the Black Woman”, last night’s BET Awards ceremony took place in the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Hosted by Taraji P. Henson, the ceremony honoured Queen Latifah with this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Some of the winners included Andra Day, H.E.R., Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion and Silk Sonic.
