The Soul Cap is designed to protect natural Black hairstyles in the swimming pool. It is used and promoted by Great Britain’s first Black female Olympic swimmer, Alice Dearing. An application for the Soul Cap’s use at Tokyo 2020 was rejected, placing swimming’s lack of diversity in the spotlight.
