Mzansi, this is your child’s future favourite teacher. I am Ludina Ngwenya! A model in the making that is here to break stereotypes and barriers.
5. Tell us a bit about your background and what your goals for the future are.
Knowing what it feels like to live with a visible difference, I am passionate about challenging the stigma and prejudice faced by people living with scars, marks and conditions to build a more inclusive, safer and realistic society.
Being different makes you vulnerable to discriminatory attitudes that undermine and belittle you, with the perpetrators being of no specific group but all of us.
6. How do you feel about being selected as a finalist in the Miss Soweto Pageant?
Growing up, I never felt represented in the pageant industry, mainly because I never saw models with scars like mine. So I remember searching on the internet “Can you be a model with scars?”
To be selected as a finalist for Miss Soweto feels like I am answering the younger me, and that feels absolutely amazing!
7. Why do you think you have what it takes to be the next Miss Soweto?
I will be the representation that I never saw growing up in the hope to inspire people to never doubt, hide or shrink themselves. In my voice, many stories can be heard. I am relatable and through me, I hope you can own your story, look beyond your circumstances and achieve your wildest dreams.
