Top News: 90% of new cases reported were caused by the Omicron variant in Gauteng

Cape Town – The increase of new infections is worrying in South Africa. On Wednesday, the NICD reported 8,561 new cases with Gauteng accounting for 72% of those cases. The NICD expressed their concern for the “exponential increase”. South Africa reported the Omnicron variant to the World Health Organisation on 25 November 2021.
