Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla says it will no longer allow drivers and passengers to play video games while the car is in motion. Elon Musk’s company told the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it would disable the feature through a software update it will release to all vehicles. The Vehicle Safety Act prohibits the sale of cars in the US that could pose unreasonable risks to safety including those that distract drivers from driving safely. We can only imagine what chaos it would have caused on South African roads if Tesla had ever launched in Mzansi.
An ominous sandstorm engulfed farms in the Northern Cape bringing with it strong winds and (you guessed it) lots of sand and dirt. The storm was captured on video by local farmer Sunè Kotzé who said they were quite used to strong winds but that the giant dust cloud was very different from anything they had experienced before. Watch the link to the video in the headlines below, it truly looks like a scene out of an apocalyptic movie.
In sports, Orlando Pirates came from a goal down to defeat Benni McCarthy’s Amazulu 2-1 last night in the teams’ final game of the year. Ghanaian striker Kwame Peprah continued his brilliant form scoring both goals for Pirates just as he did in their previous game against Marumo Gallants. The win sees the sea robbers end the year in second position on the PSL table on 30 points, 14 points behind pacesetters Mamelodi Sundowns who sit on 44 points.
