The driving licence card machine is fixed and back in operation! The machine was sent to Germany for repairs in November last year. Transport minister Fikile Mbalula posted a video to Twitter on Wednesday (26 January) showing staff at the Driving Licence Card Account (DLCA) working hard to clear the backlog. “The Licensing Card Machine has been fixed and is in operation. The Staff is pulling Day and Nightshift to ensure your License are made and delivered.” According to Business Tech, approximately half a million motorists are driving with expired licence cards.
The Clara Lionel Foundation, founded by Rihanna, has pledged $15 million to 18 organisations fighting climate change working in Caribbean nations and the United States. The Barbadian singer and businesswoman said grants will focus on groups led by women, youth, Black, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+ and people of colour. “Climate disasters, which are growing in frequency and intensity, do not impact all communities equally, with communities of colour and island nations facing the brunt of climate change.”
