In a cross-examination held by AfriForus on Thursday, Julius Malema, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader, has informed the High Court that he will respect their decision should the struggle song “Dubul’ ibhunu” be declared as hate speech.
According to EWN, “Malema also warned that by doing so, the court would be declaring that the liberation movement was driven by hate.”
Malama defended the struggle songs saying, “Our songs are not in any way meant to engage in any literal engagement.”
The lobby group has requested the EFF and its leader pay R500 000 in damage and make a public apology.
