28-year-old Port Elizabeth woman, Lumka Cube runs a successful soup kitchen that she started in 2021, called Grab and Go Foundation and it feeds homeless citizens in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape. Lumka and her dedicated team meet every Saturday, where they gather at a station, ready to serve whoever is in need of food.

“I grew up in a very warm home in Mdantsane, East London. I think my passion to serve started when I was in the SRC at the Nelson Mandela University. I realized I have a huge role to accomplish, and God wants to use me to help His people,” Lumka tells The Fuse.

“I am a strong believer in helping people because along the way of my life – I have lived through being helped by various people. If we could all be a kind society and help each other, the world would be such a better place. We are all struggling – we all need each other. And for me that’s always my ‘why’,” she concludes.

Going forward, Lumka hopes that her foundation will go beyond the shores of the city of Gqeberha, and reach and impact the lives of people in the greater Eastern Cape.
