Young Soweto entrepreneur, Rhulani Shibambo is serving kotas like you’ve never imagined before, and his loyal customers couldn’t agree more. “Kota” is an approximation of the word “quarter,” for the quarter of the loaf of bread that is the base of the sandwich. The bread is hollowed out, filled first with a layer of seasoned french fries, then topped with optional layers of sauce, cheese, egg, and meat.
After taking over his family business in Protea Glen, Rhulani Shibambo reinvented the strategy of the business by introducing over the top, delicious Kota menus. The business has since grown to impressive heights as a result.
