Tripoli (AFP) – Libyan girls and young men, dressed in their country’s traditional clothing, attend celebrations of the national day of the Libyan costume in the capital city of Tripoli. Libya has seen more than a decade of stop-start conflict since the 2011 revolt that toppled strongman Moamer Kadhafi, with a myriad of militias forming opposing alliances backed by foreign powers. It was the first time the national day of the Libyan costume has been celebrated officially since the ceasefire of summer 2020 after Haftar’s attack on Tripoli.
