The Hague (AFP) – Dutch far-right candidate Geert Wilders has come out on top in an election that shook the Netherlands and the rest of Europe. His Freedom Party (PVV) won 37 out of 150 seats in the lower house of the country’s parliament, far ahead of any opponents. Despite the resounding win, Wilders now faces a battle to form a coalition government, with several other party leaders saying they will not negotiate with the PVV.
