Over 300 Rohingya refugees stranded on Indonesian beach

Pidie Jaya (Indonesia) (AFP) – After being adrift at sea for weeks, more than 300 Rohingya refugees from Myanmar, mostly women and children, finally reach the coast of western Indonesia – only for most of them to remain stranded on the island’s shores. Since a 2017 crackdown by Myanmar’s military, much of the mostly Muslim Rohingya population has fled to Bangladesh, from which many set off to risk the perilous sea journey to Malaysia and Indonesia.
