Kazakhstan’s villages go ‘dry’ to combat alcoholism

Karakuduk (Kazakhstan) (AFP) – In the middle of the Kazakh steppes, residents of the village of Karakuduk will not find any alcoholic drinks on shelves due to a prohibition movement growing in popularity across the Central Asian country. The village is one of the firsts to ban alcohol in the country with a long-standing alcoholic problem.
