Nightlife now rules in Iraq’s former Islamic State group bastion

Mosul (AFP) – Iraqi families can be seen enjoying themselves at restaurants, cafes, and amusement parks in the northern city of Mosul seven years after the Islamic State group was defeated. The city’s streets now come alive at nightfall as residents rediscover the forgotten art of having a good time after being under the harsh rule of the extremist group until it was ousted from its last major Iraqi bastion in 2017.
