After running behind schedule since the first day after a messy and confusing registration process for delegates attending the conference delayed proceedings, Ramaphosa delivered his closing speech to a half-empty Nasrec hall on Tuesday and adjourned the conference until January 5. The unprecedented move to adjourn early means the ANC did not adopt any policy commission reports and resolutions. Read more here.

Eskom ramps up load shedding to stage 6 on Tuesday night – EWN

After some brief reprieve, load-shedding was increased to Stage 6 power cuts on Tuesday evening after further breakdowns at six of Eskom’s generating units during the day. Eskom said Stage 4 load-shedding would be implemented from Wednesday at 5 AM until further notice. The struggling power utility is arguably the number one crisis point for Ramaphosa and his government to deal with and he made mention of the “turmoil of load-shedding” in his closing speech at the conference. Musk says he’ll step down as Twitter CEO after finding a replacement – SABC News

Elon Musk seems keen to keep to his promise of stepping down as Twitter CEO after the billionaire launched a poll on Sunday asking his followers whether he should leave the top job. Musk lost that poll after around 58% of users said he should step down. Musk said on Tuesday that he would step down from the CEO position as soon as he could find a suitable candidate for the job and will instead focus on running the software and servers’ teams at Twitter.
