Young Soweto entrepreneur, Rhulani Shibambo is serving kotas like you’ve never imagined before, and his loyal customers couldn’t agree more. “Kota” is an approximation of the word “quarter,” for the quarter of the loaf of bread that is the base of the sandwich. The bread is hollowed out, filled first with a layer of seasoned french fries, then topped with optional layers of sauce, cheese, egg, and meat.

After taking over his family business in Protea Glen, Rhulani Shibambo reinvented the strategy of the business by introducing over the top, delicious Kota menus. The business has since grown to impressive heights as a result.

The success of the business is a combination of Rhulani’s street smart ways and his education from the International Hotel School in Sandton, where he obtained his Food and Beverage Management qualification.

Kota King South Africa is more than just a kota business but has become a place for people to celebrate their wins, have birthday parties, or just hang out with their loved ones over a delectable kota and drinks.

So, whether you need a hangover cure, cheat day meal, quick lunch or something to feed your family when you’re too lazy to cook, Kota King’s menu is full of options for everyone – and with almost 16 000 followers on social media, we’d say everyone agrees!
