The ancient aqueducts keeping Peruvian deserts fertile

Nazca (Peru) (AFP) – Since the fourth century AD a network of ancient aqueducts have provided water to the valleys of Peru’s Nazca region, making fertile land out of the desert. The aqueducts were built over 1,700 years ago by the pre-Hispanic Nazca people and are on UNESCO’s tentative list to be declared a World Heritage Site.
