Munich (Germany) (AFP) – Some 366 clocks cover the walls in the living room of 76-year-old Werner Stechbarth’s apartment in Munich, the haul from a life spent criss-crossing the globe. The early year move to daylight saving time is a busy period for the pensioner, who takes it upon himself to adjust every one of his timepieces.

Polish PM Tusk hails ‘step forward’ in farming talks with Ukraine


Warsaw (AFP) – Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk hails “a step forward” towards resolving the Polish-Ukrainian agricultural dispute, following a long-awaited meeting in Warsaw with his Ukrainian counterpart, Denys Shmygal. “We are currently on the right track to ensure that competition from Ukrainian hauliers is not as acute and painful as it has been so far for Polish hauliers,” Tusk says, at a joint press conference in Warsaw.

The 65-year-old tyre repair shop owner began fighting elections in 1988 from his home town of Mettur in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. Popularly dubbed the “Election King”, Padmarajan has competed across the country in votes ranging from presidential to local polls.
