Moscow (AFP) – Russian president Vladimir Putin breaks his silence on the plane crash a day earlier that reportedly killed mercenary boss Yevgeny Prigozhin and other senior members of the Wagner paramilitary group. “I have known Yevgeny Prigozhin for a very long time, since the early 1990s,” Putin says. “He was a man of complicated fate, and he made serious mistakes in his life, but he achieved the right results.”

Mexico City (AFP) – Taylor Swift fans from across Mexico arrive to the capital’s Foro Sol venue several hours before her first show of a Latin America tour, which will also take the pop superstar to Argentina and Brazil. The “Eras” Tour concerts will be the 33-year-old singer-songwriter’s first proper tour of Latin America. Russia (Russia) (AFP) – Images published on several Telegram channels and authenticated by AFP show the August 23 crash of a plane believed to have been carrying Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the paramilitary group Wagner who staged a failed rebellion against the Kremlin in June. The plane crashed near the town of Kujenkino, in the Tver Region, north-west of Moscow.
