The killing outraged protesters, already concerned by poverty and economic instability in the South American country. “I have an 11-year-old daughter” says Nelson Vargas, one of those protesting, “when I found out about this, I felt hopeless”. The murder also led politicians to cancel campaigning ahead of two upcoming votes.
Wintzenheim (France) (AFP) – A fire rages through a holiday home in eastern France, where 11 people were killed on Wednesday. The property, in Wintzenheim, was hosting a group of adults with learning disabilities and their companions at the peak of French summer holiday season. On Thursday, a prosecutor said property was flouting fire safety rules.
