Karachi (AFP) – As Eid al-Adha approaches cattle raised on Karachi’s rooftop are being hoisted down in preparation for the Muslim festival. “It’s like an event for us what they do every year. We like to watch when the crane takes all the animals down,” says a Karachi resident.

UN urges Sudan neighbours to keep borders open as exodus tops 500,000


Koufroun (Chad) (AFP) – The head of the UN’s refugee agency Filippo Grandi urges Sudan’s neighbours to keep their borders open despite security worries as the number of people fleeing the conflict tops 500,000. Kenya: UN refugee chief says half-million people have fled Sudan
