Nara (Japan) (AFP) – Mourners in Japan’s Nara place flowers in honour of former prime minister Shinzo Abe at the place where he was gunned down while campaigning. The murder of Japan’s best-known politician rattled the country and sent shockwaves around the world, particularly given the nation’s low levels of violent crime and strict gun laws.

Despite this difficult environment, the plastic surgeon Yevgeny Dobreikin wants to conquer a new clientele. ‘Two bullet wounds in his neck’: Japan hospital holds press conference after Abe’s death


Nara (Japan) (AFP) – “By the time he got to us, there were two bullet wounds in his neck,” says professor of emergency medicine Hidetada Fukushima at the hospital in Japan’s Nora province where former PM Shinzo Abe was taken after being shot. “We performed a blood transfusion and also tried to stop the bleeding but unfortunately he didn’t make it.”

Russian FM says won’t go ‘running after’ US for talks at G20


Bali (Indonesia) (AFP) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Friday he would not chase after the United States for talks as his counterpart Antony Blinken declined to see him at a G20 meeting in Indonesia. “It was not us who abandoned contact; it was the United States,” Lavrov told reporters on the island of Bali. “We are not running after anybody suggesting meetings.” The United States has sought to isolate Russia on the world stage and aides to Blinken said they saw no point in speaking to Lavrov so long as Moscow pursues its war in Ukraine. Traditional high heels race for Madrid’s LGBTQ Pride


Madrid (AFP) – Madrid’s LGTBQ Pride would not be the same without its traditional Heel Race, a sporting-festive event which this year celebrates its twenty-third edition in Pelayo Street and which involves finishing the course on platforms up to 15 centimetres high. “I run because I think it’s something super original, very fun and a way to show the diversity that exists in Chueca (an area of Madrid known as Madrid’s gay neighbourhood),” one of the winners in the race said.
