Yesterday various MEC members attended the digital press conference to discuss taxi violence in the Western Cape. Community and Safety MEC Albert Fritz said the taxi violence between rival associates should be marked as “terrorism”. Many commuters were left stranded from Monday (especially commuters in Khayelitsha) as alternative modes of transport were not available. Premier Alan Winde has requested soldiers to be deployed to protect commuters.
Luhlanganiso Majebe is the first recipient of the Uyinene Mrwetyana Scholarship at the University of Cape Town. “I feel honoured, humbled and privileged that I have been selected to receive this scholarship. I don’t take this decision lightly, because I am well aware of the responsibility that now rests on my shoulders,” said Majebe. In partnership with UCT’s Development and Alumni Department, the scholarship was established to honour the late Uyinene Mrwetyana, who was brutally raped and murdered in 2019.
And in entertainment news, the much-anticipated album, Donda by Kanye West will be released this Friday. West has been the topic of conversation this week when he dropped new music teases and an ad for his 10th album release.
