News Roundup: Private school staff urged to be vaccine ambassadors
The independent schools’ associations reported that approximately 90% of teachers and educational staff from private schools have received the Johnson & Johnson jab. In the fight against Covid-19, unions have urged educational staff to get the vaccine. “… we must all be vaccine ambassadors so that our country can combat this epidemic through mass vaccination, and by ensuring that in schools and community settings, we wear masks, physically distance, maximise ventilation, sanitise hands, and care for each other.” Unions and the Department of Health are still concerned about the low turnout rate in Gauteng.
In football news, Italy beat Spain 4 -2 last night. Federico Chiesa scored the first goal for Italy in the 60th minute, while Alvaro Morata equalised for Spain. Although the match finished 1-1, Italy scored 4 goals in the penalty shootout securing a spot in the finals. Italy will face either England or Denmark in the final Euro 2020 game on Sunday at Wembley Stadium.
