Cape Town – On Monday, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) reported 13 992 new active Covid-19 cases. Health Minister Dr. Joe Phaahla said the council would meet this week to discuss the possibility of further lockdown restrictions. Gauteng continues to be the epicenter of the outbreak.

In local soccer news, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) committee will meet again today to find solutions to the Kaizer Chiefs Covid-19 crisis. Earlier this month, more than 41 staff members tested positive for Covid-19. During a press conference yesterday, Dr Irvin Khoza, PSL Chairman, said they are treating the issue with the utmost urgency. The PSL will decide if matches are to be postponed.

The richest man in the world snatched another title, “Person of the Year”. Yesterday Time magazine named Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk as its person of the year. The magazine acknowledged his work for climate change, cryptocurrencies, space exploration, and universal broadband.
